The American Federation for Aging Research has announced that the Fannie E. Rippel Foundation/AFAR New Investigator Awards on Gender Differences in Aging program will not be offered in 2008. The program supported gender-based research in the biology of aging.

The Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Community Services announces a re-allotment of FY 2006 Funds for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). It said $326,894 will be re-allotted to LIHEAP grantees based on the normal allocation formula as if the funds had been appropriated for FY 2007. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has committed $115 million for its national program, "Aligning Forces: The Regional Market Project," to improve the quality across the continuum of care in targeted regions across the country. RWJF will work in up to 20 communities to improve the quality of health care by focusing more on coordinating care around the needs of patients, and reducing racial and ethnic dis­parities in care.
